Prologis publishes its ESG Report 2022/2023
The ESG 2022-2023 report is the 17th edition of the annual summary of Prologis’ activities in the field of sustainable logistics, employees (#prologispeople), and service to local communities. The first one was published in 2006, long before the words “ESG” and “sustainable development” entered the mandatory vocabulary of every industry.
The report provides insight into our goals and progress related to ESG issues, such as net zero emissions, renewable energy sourcing, electric vehicle charging, investment in innovation, and governance and social responsibility.
Highlights from the report:
- Net-zero emissions: We have stepped up our climate ambition by announcing a goal of net-zero emissions from all our operations by 2030 and across our entire value chain by 2040.
- Solar energy: We exceed 400 MW of solar energy across our portfolio.
- LED lighting: LED lighting is installed in 71% of our warehouses worldwide.
- DEIB: 49% of our global workforce are women and 44% of our management positions are women.
- Governance: 88% approval of leadership according to the Employee Engagement Survey and 99% approval for CEO according to Glassdoor.
- Employee bonus: In 2022, ESG metrics accounted for 10% of our employee bonus scorecards. We plan to repeat that in 2023.
- Employees: Since 2018, as part of our Community Workforce Initiative, we have trained 21,000 employees in the field of logistics.
- Social Impact: Prologis donated almost 46,452 square meters (€2.32 million) in rent-in-kind to disaster relief through its Space for Good programme. During IMPACT Day 2022, our annual global volunteering day, Prologis employees (#prologispeople) donated more than 8,500 hours to various community service projects.
- Opinion Leaders: Our proprietary event for opinion leaders, GROUNDBREAKERS, has over 15,000 followers. It was attended by numerous forward-thinking leaders in the supply chain sector.
- Impact on the global supply chain: An Oxford Economics study (2022) shows that a total value of around €506 billion (3.1% of global GDP) passes through Prologis warehouses in the EU.
“Goods representing 3% of Global GDP flow through Prologis warehouses. This is a huge success, but also a huge responsibility. As a leader in the global logistics real estate market, we are pioneers in the field of ESG and set standards for the entire industry. ESG reporting is very important because it shows specific actions and plans of companies using hard data and facts. For us, it is also a great opportunity to see a holistic picture of how much we do for our customers, employees, the communities in which we operate, and the planet,” emphasizes Paweł Sapek, Senior Vice President and head of Prologis in Central Europe.
