EGBERT TAYLOR SURVEY FINDS CZECHS ARE EUROPEAN LEADERS IN RECYCLING
Egbert Taylor Group, the UK-based waste management solutions company, today released new research that shows the Czech Republic is a European leader when it comes to recycling.
The survey, which polled 500 respondents in the Czech Republic between September 12th and 17th 2017 about their recycling habits, found that over 96% of Czech households recycle their household waste, which is the highest figure in Europe.
In January 2017, the European Parliament’s environment committee proposed raising the European Union’s binding targets on recycling and landfills to recycle 70% of household waste (80% of packaging) and landfill to form no more than 5% of waste by 2030.
Recycling in the Czech Republic is also a family affair, Egbert Taylor’s survey found, with over 66% of Czech households having every member involved in recycling, compared with nearly 30% where just one household member was responsible for recycling.
“This is wonderful news, as it proves that the recycling message is getting through to children as well as adults,” says Tomas Strelsky, Egbert Taylor’s director for Central & Eastern Europe.
